Flat Fee (most popular)

The Flat Fee Pricing Model is our most popular because quite simply, it best aligns the attorney’s interests with the client’s interests. With a flat fee model, the attorney works more efficiently, the client gains predictability, and the value of the work (rather than the attorney’s time) becomes the focus of the engagement.

Full Time Luxurious Office Space

5%

The Legal Origins Difference

Under a traditional law firm pricing model, up to 20% of their collected client fees go towards maintaining luxury office space in prime city locations. While there are certain advantages to prime city locations, why are clients forced to subsidize office space for attorneys, paralegals, and support staff? At Legal Origins, we occupy space in a prime location in the center of Washington, D.C. (actually just a couple blocks away from the White House). Our major difference, however, is that the office space is reserved only for client meetings. When our attorneys are not meeting with clients, they are encouraged to telecommute (i.e. work from home). Telecommuting has been proven to (1) increase productivity, (2) reduce turnover and burnout rates, (3) improve attorney morale, and (4) greatly reduce law firm costs. By encouraging our attorneys to telecommute, and only come to the office for select face-to-face client meetings, we are able to greatly reduce the amount of money spent on luxury office space and directly pass the savings to our clients.

Training Unexperienced Attorneys & Paralegals

0%

The Legal Origins Difference

This represents our largest savings. Under the traditional law firm pricing model, up to 30% of their collected client fees go towards training unexperienced attorneys and paralegals with less than three years of post law school experience. At Legal Origins we have decided to simply remove this massive expense from the bottom line by requiring a minimum of three years of relevant work experience for all of our attorneys. Why should clients have to foot the bill at a rate of hundreds of dollars per hour to train unexperienced attorneys? By requiring a minimum of three years of relevant post law school experience for all of our attorneys, we are able to create yet another win-win scenario for our firm and our clients. The only losers are unexperienced attorneys and paralegals, but fortunately for us, there are thousands of other traditional law firms in the U.S. willing to train unexperienced attorneys at the expense of their clients.

Fixed Overhead (Insurance, Legal Research Costs, CLE, etc…)

25%

The Legal Origins Difference

This represents a lot of the fixed law firm expenses that can not be avoided. Under the traditional law firm pricing model, up to 30% of their collected client fees go towards important fixed overhead costs like insurance, legal research costs, continuing legal education (CLE), etc. When it comes to these fixed costs, we are able to only pass on limited savings to our clients. The savings are a result of our telecommuting policy (office space insurance savings) and our minimum three years post law school experience requirement (CLE expenses are significantly greater for unexperienced attorneys than for experienced ones).

20%

Attorney Who Actually Works for Client

70%

The Legal Origins Difference

Unlike the traditional law firm model, in which 20% of a law firm’s collected client fees go towards paying the attorneys who actually complete the legal work, at Legal Origins, our attorneys receive up to 70% of the fees we charge our clients. By passing along tremendous savings based on our telecommuting policy, minimum three years post law school experience requirement, and certain fixed overhead reductions, our clients are able to save 50-70% compared to traditional law firms.

Our Pricing Model in Action: According to a report released by the BTI Consulting Group Inc., as of 2014 the average hourly fee per attorney with at least three year post law school experience at larger traditional law firms range from $400 per hour to $700 per hour. Even on the highest end of the fee spectrum, the attorneys charging $700 per hour actually end up keeping just 20% (i.e. $140 per hour spent actually working). Because of our revolutionary pricing model, our attorneys with a minimum of three years post law school experience charge $199-299 per hour. Even on the lowest end of our spectrum, the attorneys charging $199 per hour end up keeping 70% (i.e. $140 per hour spent actually working). This results in the ultimate win-win scenario. At the end of the day, our attorneys end up with a better, more stress free, lifestyle while earning the same amount of money per hour spent actually working as they would at the largest law firms and our clients are able to retain quality experienced attorneys at a fraction of the cost.
